A “significant” natural gas leak has forced Route 73 near Jackson Road to shut down in Berlin Township, Camden County, on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said that the leak could cause a gas odor in Berlin Township, as well as parts of Berlin Borough, and people are urged to avoid the area.

Anyone who suspects a natural gas leak in their home or business is urged to call 911.

A third-party caused the leak, and crews are on scene working on the leak, officials said.

A time estimate of when the leak will be fixed and the road reopened was not yet available.
